The Cordiant Comfort 2 SUV summer tire is one of the new models whose production was established at the Yaroslavl plant after it came under the control of the Sibur conglomerate. It is designed for compact crossovers, which rarely find themselves off paved roads. It is a special version of the eponymous passenger tire, differing from it by a more rigid carcass and belt.
Confident behavior in any conditions
The tire is characterized by increased handling accuracy and stable traction properties when braking, both on dry and wet surfaces. These properties are provided by a whole complex of technical solutions that have affected almost all elements of the tire's design.
In particular, three-dimensional computer modeling methods were used in the development. With their help, it was possible to select such a profile of the tread pattern of the tread that achieves the largest contact area with the road surface. At the same time, it is practically square, which makes the grip not only better but also more stable, despite the continuous impact of multidirectional acceleration forces on the tire.
Another factor that ensures confident behavior in any road conditions is the design of the shoulder areas of the tread. They have an increased width, which gives the blocks located here increased stiffness. This feature is manifested when maneuvering, when the tire, even with strong lateral accelerations, retains traction and directional stability.
It is also worth noting the variety of elements of the drainage system. Longitudinal grooves serve as a water reservoir, which is removed from the contact patch by a network of thin lamellae. As a result, high resistance to aquaplaning is provided.
The tire's tread is made of a rubber compound with an increased silica content. This component gives the tire elasticity at low temperatures, which ensures its more dense adhesion to the road surface. In addition, the compound contains polymers that increase the strength of the break and stretch. This feature ensures the integrity of the tread during prolonged high-speed driving.
Improved comfort
The tire's tread has two layers. The outer running part is made of an elastic compound that dampens the shock impact from small irregularities. This gives the tire a soft ride and eliminates most of the low-frequency vibrations. The inner layer, on the contrary, is made very rigid. It improves handling and reduces rolling resistance.
Reduced rolling resistance
This model is characterized by reduced rolling resistance. It is provided by several features. One of them is the low weight of the tire. It is made with minimal use of metal. Steel cord is used only in one of the two layers of the belt. The other elements of the power frame are made of nylon. The physico-chemical properties of this material, combined with spiral winding, made it possible to significantly reduce the weight of the tire and at the same time increase its strength and rigidity, reduce heating during high-speed driving. All these factors have a positive effect on rolling resistance.
