The Continental ContiWinterContact TS 870 P winter tire, thanks to its extensive size range, is suitable for almost any passenger car. Like its predecessor, it is designed for use in so-called "European winter" conditions. The tire is distinguished by its high efficiency on wet and snowy surfaces, retaining a significant portion of its performance even on icy surfaces. It is also characterized by reduced rolling resistance, resistance to abrasive wear, and a long service life.

The tread pattern features a directional V-shaped design with a developed drainage system. In addition to the four longitudinal grooves, its elements are arranged at an angle and directed against the direction of rotation. This allows water and its heavy mixture with snow and road dirt to be removed from the contact patch with very high intensity. The special shape of the drainage grooves prevents the tread from clogging with snow masses, ensuring reliable traction and handling in complex road conditions.

The tread is made from the Cool Chili rubber compound. In addition to its high "silica" content, its composition is distinguished by the presence of organic resins. These increase the strength of the compound against tearing and stretching at the molecular level. This allows the tire to remain very elastic at extremely low temperatures, retaining its resistance to abrasive wear and prolonged heating. In addition to resins, the compound contains a range of polymers that reduce rolling resistance, allowing the tire to save fuel.

The tread pattern uses several types of "three-dimensional" lamellas. The shoulder areas contain zigzag-shaped cuts and special activators. When in contact with the road surface, they open the lamellas across the entire block surface, increasing traction on slippery surfaces. The cuts located in the central part have a significant inclination, which improves directional stability. The wave-shaped lamellas allow for more intensive acceleration and braking on wet and snowy surfaces.
