The winter tire Continental ContiVikingContact 7 is suitable for almost any modern passenger car. It is available in several dozen sizes for wheels with diameters from 14 to 20 inches. It is characterized by improved traction and directional stability on snowy and wet surfaces compared to the previous model.
Active Grip Silica
The tread of the tire is made from a rubber compound that includes Active Grip Silica. The complex of substances based on silicon dioxide allows the compound to remain elastic at extremely low temperatures. At the same time, rapeseed oil provides high strength of the tread to rupture and stretching, which allows it to maintain its integrity not only in severe frosts but also when driving at high speeds.
Updated Tread Pattern
Another key difference from the previous model is the tread pattern. The design developed "from scratch" is symmetrical with rhomboid blocks in the central part. The edges formed by them are located at a large angle, increasing their total length. As a result, both longitudinal and transverse traction are provided, as well as resistance to aquaplaning and slushplaning.
Each block has a large number of lamellas. Narrow slits enhance the grip properties on wet surfaces and rolled snow, and their wavy shape and wall protrusions improve the accuracy of steering.
Excellent Traction and Braking Properties
This model of Continental ContiVikingContact 7 was one of the first to use 3D-Trapez lamellas. These slits are characterized by an unusual trapezoidal shape of the inner walls. It increases the height of the edges formed when the lamellas are opened. So-called "pockets" are formed, which are filled with snow from the road surface. Since these elements are located at a small angle to the direction of movement, such a design provides maximum efficiency during longitudinal accelerations.
Bridges Between Blocks
At the bottom of the drainage grooves between the blocks, there are special bridges. They rigidly connect the tread elements, limiting their mutual mobility. This significantly improves the stability of the grip properties during maneuvering, simplifying the process of controlling the car due to more transparent feedback on the steering wheel.
