Description Continental ContiExtremeContact
Summer tire for passenger cars Continental ContiExtremeContact belongs to the so-called "rain" tires, differing in the highest performance, first of all, on wet pavement. In such conditions, it demonstrates, in addition to the stability of the coupling properties, the efficiency of braking, comfort in handling. Other strong points of the model include increased mileage, smooth ride, and reduced noise level.
The tread pattern is made in a V-shaped design, representing a combination of individual blocks. In the central part, the elements are arranged, overlapping each other, reducing rolling resistance, noise, and wear. The grooves between them, being directed against the direction of movement, provide high water drainage intensity from under the tire, using its rotation during movement for this purpose. Another feature of the pattern is the massive blocks on the edges of the tread. Their elongated transverse edges increase the traction and braking properties, especially on wet pavement. When maneuvering dynamically, such elements, due to their resistance to deformation, increase the accuracy of control and reliability of coupling, preventing uneven wear of the tread at the same time, significantly slowing down this process, thereby increasing driving comfort and increasing tire mileage. It is worth noting the use of a rubber compound, the characteristics of which were selected based on the features of the tire's operation on wet pavement. A large part of its composition is represented by silicon dioxide, known as "silica". In combination with modern methods of producing the compound, this allows the tire to maintain elasticity at an optimal level, including at low temperatures, due to which the coupling properties are enhanced, first of all, in unfavorable weather conditions. This enables the numerous edges of the tread elements to maximally envelop the wet road surface, thus ensuring control reliability.
Main features of Continental ContiExtremeContact:
- a large number of grooves directed against the direction of movement provides high tire resistance to aquaplaning;
- massive blocks on the edges with elongated edges and lamellas increase braking and traction properties on wet pavement, reliability of control during maneuvering;
- optimized block arrangement in the central part reduces rolling resistance and wear, increases directional stability at high speed;
- optimized rubber compound provides the tire with high performance on wet pavement
