The Continental ContiCrossContact H/T summer tire is designed for crossovers and SUVs. It belongs to the High Terrain category of tires, but the manufacturer also includes in its target audience drivers who travel not only on highways and solid ground roads, but also on gravel surfaces.
The versatility of the tire is largely due to the use of a special compound. It is distinguished by increased resistance to abrasive wear, punctures, and tears compared to "highway" analogs. Additionally, the depth of the tread pattern has been significantly increased, which minimizes the risk of tire damage when operating on harsh rocky surfaces. Another solution that increases the protectiveness of the tire is the optimization of the rim profile, next to which a special reinforcing rib is located. It provides a more secure fixation of the tire on the wheel disk.
Another important feature of the model is the structure of the carcass. It is a "layered cake" of synthetic cord made from different materials, "entering", including, the sidewalls. The tread pattern is distinguished by "road" density of element arrangement, as well as a layout that provides the formation of five continuous longitudinal ribs. Such a design minimizes rolling resistance and wear, providing good directional stability at high speeds, traction stability, and ease of handling during maneuvering. Another distinguishing feature of the pattern is the presence of a large number of lamellas. The cuts are made "three-dimensional", being able to fix in an open position when contacting the road surface. Such elements significantly increase traction and braking intensity on wet pavement, providing the contact patch with additional hundreds of sharpened edges.
