The Bridgestone Ecopia EP150 summer tire is one of the representatives of the "energy-efficient" line of models from the Japanese manufacturer, differing not only in excellent fuel economy, but also in traction on wet roads. In addition, it is impossible not to note the excellent applicability of this model, ensured by a wide range of sizes, including several dozen types for wheels with a landing diameter of up to 17 inches.
Low Rolling Resistance
As mentioned earlier, this model belongs to the Ecopia line, all of whose tires are distinguished by excellent fuel economy. They are provided by very low rolling resistance, which, in turn, was achieved through a number of technical solutions.
One of them is a significant reduction in weight, which was ensured mainly through the use of new-generation materials. In addition, something was done with the tread pattern, the distinctive feature of which is a small number of individual elements by modern standards. All of them are grouped into four longitudinal ribs, including the shoulder areas.
Excellent Traction on Wet Roads
Another area that was given increased attention during the development of this model was ensuring maximum traction properties on wet roads. This was done through certain technical solutions that affected both the tread pattern and the rubber compound, or rather its composition.
In particular, the symmetrical non-directional tread pattern of the Bridgestone Ecopia EP150, despite its closed design, is equipped with a fairly efficient drainage system. Its high efficiency is ensured by the increased size of its components, the main ones being three longitudinal grooves. In addition, the surface of most tread blocks has special straight lamellas that also contribute to the cleaning of the contact patch from moisture.
As for the rubber compound, a number of special components were introduced into its composition, which made it possible not only to improve traction on wet roads but also to significantly increase the durability of the tread to abrasive wear, which significantly extended the life of the entire tire.
Main Features of the Bridgestone Ecopia EP150 Tire
- extremely low rolling resistance, ensured by low weight and design features of the tread pattern;
- the symmetrical non-directional tread pattern is highly efficient on both dry and wet roads;
- excellent resistance to aquaplaning, thanks to the impressive size of the drainage system components;
- the closed design of the tread pattern provides a low noise level;
- the rubber compound with the addition of special components significantly increased traction on wet roads, as well as resistance to abrasive wear.
