The BFGoodrich Winter T/A KSI winter tire is suitable for most popular compact and medium-sized cars today. The model is available in over 40 sizes with diameters from 14 to 18 inches. On the go, it is characterized by stability on icy and snowy roads, reliable behavior in difficult weather conditions, a smooth ride even over large bumps, and a low noise level.
The tread pattern is made in a directional design with a symmetrical arrangement of elements. Its key feature is the arrangement of blocks in groups of four elements each. This solution provides the formation of numerous transverse and longitudinal edges in the contact patch, which, due to a height of 12 mm, give the tire confident behavior on snow. It is worth noting the presence of zigzag edges on the shoulder blocks, which additionally enhance the traction properties on snowy roads.
Exactly in the middle, the developers placed a solid rib. It has an arrow-shaped form, thanks to which very long and multidirectional longitudinal edges are formed in the contact patch. In conjunction with the solid structure of the entire rib, this solution improves directional stability, increases accuracy, and quickens the tire's response to the driver's actions.
In addition to the blocks, the efficiency on slippery roads is ensured by lamellas. The longitudinal rib uses V-shaped notches, which increase the traction force during acceleration and directional stability. The shoulder areas contain zigzag notches, the shape of which increases the length of the edges formed by them and prevents transverse movement of the blocks. It is worth noting their unusual profile in the side projection. The sharp angle and inclination of the shoulder block sidewalls improve the efficiency of the tread in deep snow.
