The winter tire Apollo Hawkz Winter is one of the novelties of the popular European manufacturer in our country, which is Vredestein. It was its specialists who were engaged in the development of this model, thanks to which it has excellent traction properties on any winter roads, as well as a number of other advantages.
Original V-shaped tread design
Unlike most modern winter tires, the Apollo Hawkz Winter is equipped with a tread with a reduced number of individual elements, thanks to which they have massive sizes. This made it possible to significantly increase the contact patch size and also equip the tread with very voluminous drainage grooves.
Another advantage of this design is the presence of several functional zones, which gives the tire balance between all operational characteristics. In particular, the wide longitudinal rib in the center, having a continuous structure, gives the tire stable behavior and stability when moving at high speed, and also - fast and accurate responses to the driver's actions. In turn, the double blocks of arrow-shaped form located nearby improve the longitudinal traction properties, and their "colleagues" in the shoulder areas provide stability during maneuvering, as well as reduce the braking distance.
Multifunctional drainage grooves of the Apollo Hawkz Winter
The above-mentioned drainage grooves, due to some features of their design, perform several functions at once. The main one is to divert water and meltwater from the contact patch. The drainage grooves located in the shoulder areas of the tread have additional functionality. Their walls have a zigzag profile, which allows the tread to retain some of the snow, significantly improving traction on this type of surface.

In the absence of studs, for which even installation sites are not provided, the Apollo Hawkz Winter provides traction on rolled snow and ice with several thousand sharp edges formed by the numerous lamellas. The traction properties are characterized by stability and reliability, thanks to the multidirectional arrangement of these miniature tread elements. At the same time, the zigzag shape of their walls significantly increases the stiffness of the blocks, which leads to improved handling on any hard surface.
