Tires on JMC (ДжиЭмСи)

The name of the JMC car brand is an abbreviation composed of the capital letters of the name of its owner, the Chinese company Jiangling Motors Corporation. The firm belongs to the Jiangling Investment investment fund, which, in turn, is controlled by the state-owned Changan and JMCG.

History

The JMC brand has its history dating back to a truck repair shop opened in Nanchang in 1947 and called Anchang Motors Repair Factory. This JMC predecessor began assembling vehicles in 1968, which continues to this day. The next significant event in the company's history was cooperation with Ford. In the 1990s, the North American automaker lost to its main competitor, General Motors, in a deal to create a joint venture with SAIC Motor. Nevertheless, it managed to find a new partner in China, which in 1995 became JMC. Two years later, the joint venture was launched and began producing a licensed copy of the Ford Transit. The North American partner provided the project with technologies, while JMC provided the production of key components: engines, transmissions, and axles. In 2010, the company entered the passenger car segment by releasing the S350 crossover. In 2013, JMC began cooperating with Volvo Trucks, which enabled the production of heavy-duty trucks. However, in mid-2021, the partnership was terminated at the initiative of the Swedish company, which left the project. Nevertheless, the production of heavy-duty trucks continued until May 2023. Currently, JMC is focused on producing only passenger cars and small-capacity commercial vehicles, most of which are assembled at a joint venture with Ford.

Model Range

Currently, the brand's product lineup consists of vehicles in two categories: SUVs/pickups and small-capacity commercial vehicles. Passenger models use Ford platforms, components, and technologies. Most often, these are vehicles based on the Ranger pickup, also known as the Mazda BT-50. The engine range is similarly composed, consisting entirely of Ecoboost series power units. A similar approach was demonstrated in the creation of small-capacity commercial vehicles. These are various versions of the popular worldwide Ford Transit, which use the same components and technologies as the original model. In particular, these are tires and wheels, which are available in a wide range in the "Mosavtoshina" online store.
