Tires on Hummer H2 (Хуммер)
The «Hummer H2», produced from 2002 to 2009, became an iconic model for the brand, offering the owner not only a striking exterior but also a design close in spirit to utility off-road vehicles. The car became much more comfortable and technologically advanced than its military «relative»: improved handling, a comfortable cabin, and the possibility of using the car every day made it unique in its class.Origins and Concept
During development, engineers used the frame from GM's GMT820 pickup trucks, which was strengthened with additional longitudinal elements and more powerful suspension mounting nodes. The suspension layout was borrowed from the legendary H1: torsion bars at the front, a non-split axle, and leaf springs at the rear. This chassis was designed for extremely high loads. The body stood out with a brutal design featuring long straight lines and angles, huge wheel arches, a high hood edge with a radiator grille in the familiar H1 style.
The main engine was a 6-liter V8 Vortec gasoline engine, producing around 316 horsepower and impressive 490 Nm of torque, which allowed it to tow a heavy body and confidently overcome inclines. In later versions, a fresher 6.2-liter engine with 393 horsepower appeared, working in conjunction with an upgraded «automatic». Torque transmission was carried out through a transfer case with a reduction gear, providing quite extensive capabilities off-road. Inside, the cabin struck a contrast with the exterior: soft seats, convenient ergonomics, and a high driver position created a feeling that driving this «giant» was easier than it seemed at first glance.
Updates and Model Development
During the 2008 update, the suspension geometry was refined: the characteristics of the shock absorbers were changed, which reduced vertical pitching, and the stabilizers became thicker, improving body control on asphalt. Impressive approach and departure angles — over 40° at the front and around 37° at the rear — were preserved, allowing the H2 to confidently feel at home in conditions where most large off-road vehicles stopped. The maximum depth of the ford, reaching 50 cm, and the robust protection underneath emphasized that the car was indeed designed for off-road operation.
The exterior design became more modern: redesigned bumpers, more expressive optics, and updated wheel arches added «massiveness» to the H2, but did not violate the signature silhouette. The cabin also underwent changes: an improved audio system with satellite navigation for a fee, higher-quality trim materials, and an increased number of airbags brought the H2 closer to premium off-road vehicles. At the same time, it remained a full-fledged working machine, capable of towing trailers weighing over 3 tons, withstanding serious mechanical loads, and confidently moving over rocky terrain.
Most of the produced specimens used wheels with diameters from 17 to 20 inches. In the online store «Mosavtoshina», you can select special models that adapt this off-road vehicle to any operating conditions.
