Cupra Leon – a car from the sub-brand "Seat", which belongs to the C class. The model, or rather the whole family, appeared in 2020. It includes "charged" cars, under the hood of which there are not only gasoline, but also hybrid and fully electric power units.

The beginning of the story

The new product is based on a platform previously used in the creation of the Seat Leon of the fourth generation. But the "Cupra" has more sports settings, for which the front was lowered by 25 mm, and the rear by 20 mm. This made it possible to lower the center of gravity, ensuring more precise control at speed.

Externally, the car differs from the "base" bumper and radiator grille, on which the brand logo is located. A massive spoiler is installed at the back, and diffusers have appeared in the rear bumper.

Among the technical differences, a completely reconfigured suspension can be distinguished, which is represented by "MacPherson" struts at the front and a multi-link structure at the rear. Also, the model uses adaptive shock absorbers, which are supplemented by electronic control, allowing you to change their stiffness. The power steering has also been modified.

The salon is designed in a sports style. Sports seats with increased side supports are installed here, copper-colored elements are used (a characteristic feature of the family), a sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles and engine start buttons. In addition, the sports car is equipped with Travel Assist - an advanced cruise control that provides a high degree of driving autonomy. Among the additional systems, you can note the lane control, driver status monitoring, warning of approaching a vehicle from behind when the door is open, etc.

Execution options

In the basic configuration, the hatchback and station wagon are equipped with a two-liter turbocharged engine running on gasoline and producing 310 and 300 hp, respectively. The proprietary "Volkswagen" DSG robot with a dual clutch works in pair with it, providing quick and smooth shifting.

There is also a rechargeable hybrid, the basis of which is a 1.4-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 150 hp, supplemented by an electric motor with a capacity of 115 hp. On a single battery charge (13 kW), exclusively in electric mode, the car can travel up to 60 km.

e-Racer - a special fully electric version for racing competitions, the basis of which is 4 electric motors. Their total power is 680 hp, and the torque is 960 Nm. They allow the car to accelerate to 100 km in 3.2 seconds. And the maximum speed is limited to 270 km.
