The Cupra car brand belongs to the Spanish company SEAT, part of the Volkswagen Group concern. The brand specializes in the development of passenger cars with enhanced dynamic properties and bright design. History

The Cupra brand was established in 2018 based on the sports division of SEAT Sport. It was founded back in 1985 and replaced the existing "special vehicles department" of the Spanish brand. In turn, it was formed in 1971 with the aim of SEAT participating in rally championships. And it was extremely successful, as the teams of the Spanish automaker from 1979 to 1983 became the owners of 11 titles. In 2018, SEAT created the Cupra brand, dividing SEAT Sport into two divisions. Cupra Racing is still engaged in rally and touring car racing, and Cupra is developing high-performance versions of existing SEAT models in the lineup.

Model Range

For the first few years of its existence, Cupra offered special versions of popular SEAT models, which were distinguished by very high dynamic properties for their class. However, since 2020, this approach has changed completely. Now all models are developed at Cupra and sold exclusively under this brand. The firstborn of the lineup was the Formentor crossover with a hybrid power plant. In 2021, the brand presented the Born hatchback, which is an extremely dynamic "electric car" on the same platform as the Volkswagen ID.3, and is produced at the German concern's plant in Zwickau.
