Their prototype was the Japanese Suzuki Carry ST-90, which was carefully studied and precisely copied by Chinese engineers. But not everything worked out immediately. The Chinese were unable to reproduce some of the nodes, so they offered cooperation with the Japanese company. Due to prolonged negotiations, which ultimately ended in success, the factory employees independently solved many technical problems. As a result, models equipped with Japanese engines, as well as fully Chinese ones, came off the assembly line. In two years, more than 10,000 trucks were produced, which were in high demand in the PRC.

Cooperation with Suzuki

Against the backdrop of its rapid development and comprehensive support from the state, the company decided to expand its activities beyond the country's borders. As a result, a joint venture with Suzuki was created - Chongqing Changan Suzuki Automobile Co., which was established in 1993. The first conveyor model was the Alto SC7080.
