Zhongce Rubber Group (ZC Rubber) has officially begun commercial production at its new tire plant, PT. Matahari Tire Indonesia (MTI), located in the Indonesian city of Semarang (Central Java province).

MTI has become the second plant for ZC Rubber outside of China (the first one was opened in Thailand), with an investment of $280 million. The plant area is 500,000 m2, and its product range includes tires for trucks, buses, and two-wheeled vehicles, as well as inner tubes, tires, and technical carbon.

The company does not specify the capacity of the new plant, and its expected turnover, as noted by ERJ, is around $720 million.

The construction of the new production complex was completed in less than a year, and its opening, according to ZC Rubber Chairman Shen Jinjun, "will play an important role in the implementation of the company's global development strategy and expansion into key markets".

"The goal is for the new plant to enhance our competitiveness and ensure the supply of high-quality products," Shen added.

ZC Rubber is also currently building a plant in Mexico.
