Continental plant in Ecuador reduces production
Company Continental Tire Andina SA, the only tire company in Ecuador, is changing its work schedule due to low production load and weak market demand, according to ERJ.
Starting from January 2025, the plant will switch from a seven-day to a five-day work schedule and will stop producing products on weekends. In Continental, they note that the decision was made through a "collective agreement", and since the production load is 55%, "it was necessary to take urgent measures in the current situation". Due to the reduction in production volumes, the salaries of 750 plant workers will be cut by 30%.
The plant in Cuenca has been operating since 1995 and is capable of producing up to 2.2 million passenger, commercial and truck tires per year.
