Yokohama successfully performs in WRC

While Hankook supplies tires for the top class of the World Rally Championship (WRC), the series also includes national and regional rankings where other tire manufacturers participate, and Yokohama marked its fifth consecutive win in the JR2 category during the Rally Japan, held from May 28 to 31 in Aichi and Gifu prefectures.

In the JR2 class, cars with an engine displacement of 1,600 to 2,500 cm3 are used, and Yokohama provided the Yokohama ADVAN A051T tires for the race, which, according to the company, provide optimal traction and control on asphalt roads, as well as increased wear resistance, helping to improve results on technically challenging roads with high surface temperatures.

In 2026, the winners in JR2 were Yuta Yamamoto and Shizuka Takehara from the K-One Racing Team, who showed the best time on all special stages except one in a Toyota 86, and finished more than 17 minutes ahead of their closest competitor. Yamamoto also participates in the Japanese Rally Championship (JRC), where he has won the JN-3 class for three consecutive years on Yokohama tires.

The WRC, along with Formula 1 and the World Endurance Championship (WEC), is one of the most prestigious automobile racing competitions in the world, and this year's calendar includes 14 stages to be held in various countries.
