Wanli has developed new tires for electric vehicles
On December 9, at a dealer conference in Dongguan (Guangdong Province, China), the premiere of the new summer tires Wanli EraComfort e01 took place, which were specifically designed for vehicles with new energy sources (NEV), such as electric cars and hybrids, which are currently gaining popularity in the Chinese market at a rapid pace.
As Hu Yunfan, Vice Chairman and General Manager of Wanli, told us, the novelty became the first Chinese tire with a special marking, indicating that it is designed for NEV, and the development of the new product, which took a total of 38 months, involved foreign experts and professional drivers.
In the creation of the new product, a new tread groove design was developed, which reduces the noise generated by the airflow passing through it. In combination with the use of Wanli's patented composite sound-absorbing material, this, according to the company, made it possible to reduce the overall noise level by 5-8 dB.
A functional butadiene-styrene rubber of a new generation (SSBR) was added to the rubber mixture, and the manufacturer claims that due to the modification of the rubber molecules, the grip is enhanced due to the creation of a "gecko sucker effect". In addition, modeling technologies made it possible to optimize the tread pattern, compound composition, and tread pattern, thanks to which "in terms of wet braking efficiency, the new tires are comparable to the best Chinese tires in this regard".
In the manufacture of the construction, a new material AeroTech is used, which, according to Wanli, increased resistance to bulge formation by 18% and accelerated steering response by more than 10%. The new tires are also distinguished by increased wear resistance, with a strength increase of more than 10% and a reduction in rolling resistance of more than 15%. Finally, the sidewalls are made using laser engraving, and the design elements have been given a "velvet effect".
