All-season tire Dunlop Synchro Weather marks its first anniversary

Sumitomo celebrates the first anniversary of the release to the Japanese market of the all-season tire Dunlop Synchro Weather, which is of interest primarily because, as the manufacturer claims, it is the first "all-season" tire to receive not only the 3PMSF symbol, confirming its effectiveness on snow, but also the right to the Ice Grip marking. This means that Synchro Weather has met the standards for ice traction set for Scandinavian-type winter tires.

Such performance has been made possible by the Active Tread technology, which, due to the use of new materials, increases the softness of the rubber compound when in contact with water and at low temperatures, and it is reported that on ice, the Synchro Weather is only slightly inferior to winter tires.

We have to wait for European magazines to verify these assurances in independent tests, and Sumitomo intends to bring Synchro Weather to the European market, but only by 2027, and before that, the Active Tread technology will be improved.

In Sumitomo, they note that the tires have been well received in the Japanese market due to their ease of use - the need for seasonal tire changes is eliminated - and a wide range of sizes. At the same time, dealers have asked to release tires in sizes with a diameter of 14 inches for compact cars, which are very popular in Japan, as a result of which the company will introduce 24 additional sizes to the market, including 155/65 R14 and 165/65 R14

After expanding the lineup, the tires will be available in 100 sizes with a rim diameter from 14 to 21 inches for a wide range of vehicles from compact cars to crossovers, sports cars, and minivans.
