For the standard equipment of the Volkswagen T-Roc crossover, summer tires Continental EcoContact 7 and EcoContact 7 S have been approved, and for cold weather and all-year-round operation, the automaker recommends the corresponding winter Continental WinterContact TS 870 P and all-season AllSeasonContact 2 tires, the tire company's press service reported.

EcoContact 7 and its more sporty version, EcoContact 7 S, are made using the Smart Energy Casing technology, and new materials that reduce friction inside the tire and rolling resistance are used in the manufacture of the carcass, hermetic layer, and sidewalls. Additionally, the sidewalls feature recesses, like those on golf balls, which reduce air turbulence behind the tire and further improve energy efficiency. Both tires also feature a Silent Pattern tread design, developed to improve acoustic comfort, and engineers have optimized the block placement scheme to reduce noise in frequencies typical of moderate-speed city traffic.

The EcoContact 7 tires have been homologated in sizes with diameters from 16 to 18 inches, while the EcoContact 7 S tires have been homologated in sizes from 16 to 19 inches.

The VW-recommended WinterContact TS 870 P winter tires are designed for regions with mild climates, and their tread pattern with numerous lamellas is designed to enhance traction on snow and wet surfaces. In addition, the rubber compound retains its elasticity at low temperatures, increasing the level of safety in cold weather.

Finally, the Continental AllSeasonContact 2 tires are designed for those who want to abandon the seasonal change of tires twice a year and are designed to work effectively in both summer and winter conditions, although they are not suitable for northern winters either.
