In Russia, motorcycle tire production has grown

The total volume of motorcycle tire offerings on the Russian market in the first half of this year reached 437 thousand units, which is 6 thousand tires more than in the same period of 2023, reports "Gazeta.ru" with reference to the data of CRPT (operator of the "Honest Sign" brand)

45% of the offerings (198 thousand units, which is 19% more than a year earlier) were provided by Russian factories, while imports decreased by 9.8% to 239 thousand units.

Moto tires are in the greatest demand in Udmurtia (19.8 tires were sold per 1,000 people), followed by Karelia (13.5 units), Saint Petersburg (7.7 units), Primorsky Krai (7 units) and Tatarstan (5.5 units). In total, retail sales of motorcycle tires, according to CRPT, grew by 8%, while the average price decreased by 12.4%, from 4908 to 4298 rubles.

According to Varvara Mikhaylova, head of the consumer goods department of CRPT, the decrease in prices is due to a number of factors: "Firstly, domestic manufacturers have increased their market share by almost 7 percentage points. Due to lower logistics and customs costs, the cost of domestic tires is lower than that of imported ones. Secondly, in conditions of growing demand, sellers can reduce prices due to the scale effect. For example, a company can get a discount from a supplier when purchasing a large volume of goods. As a result, the cost of each unit of goods decreases, which allows the seller to set a lower price for buyers."
