Smart Tires from Hankook

27 april 2012
The Korean company Hankook Tyre at the Beijing auto show demonstrated its latest developments in the production of automobile tires. Among other things, "smart" tires were presented, which can adapt themselves to the conditions of the environment, as well as tires that can increase the clamping force.

The pioneering company in this direction was Bridgestone, which in September last year showed the Contact Area Information Sensing (CAIS) system. It consists of sensors built into the tire that transmit data on the road surface characteristics to the car's cabin, to the onboard computer. This technology was recognized as the "Technology of 2011".
Another Asian company has actively begun using this technology this year. The new tires from Hankook Tyre behave exactly the same during operation. The electronic system works on the same principle, ensuring maximum safety for the vehicle owner. It is now clear that such tires are the future of tire production.

The first model presented at the Beijing Motor Show by Hankook Tyre was the Hankook Ventus Aero. This tire was first shown last year. Its distinctive features are improved traction due to increased clamping force, as well as minimized fuel consumption while driving due to the reasonable use of kinetic energy.
According to a representative of the Chinese branch of Hankook Tyre, the company is constantly working to improve the quality of its products. This year, it plans to further expand the range of tires, including the use of the above-mentioned unique Contact Area Information Sensing (CAIS) technology, which allows the production of "smart" tires.
