The next Pirelli calendar will be dedicated to India

Pirelli has announced that its 2027 calendar will be dedicated to India and will feature the work of two photographers for the first time: Norwegian Sølve Sundsbø, who also worked on the 2026 edition, and Indian Raghu Rai, who passed away recently.

Pirelli notes that Rai worked on the calendar for three months, creating a series of shots that reflect his roots and vision of India, and after his death, the company and the photographer's family decided to complete his work. This will be done by Rai's daughter, Avani Rai, who is also a world-renowned photographer, and, in her words, it was a great honor for her to be part of the Pirelli project and bring her father's idea to life.

"My father's work for Pirelli was conceived as a tribute to India and a combination of his vision of life with the image of the country's people and its diversity, which has always fascinated him," she said. "I couldn't bear the thought of the project being left unfinished. For me, it was a very personal process - as if I saw India through the lens of my camera, just like he did. Photography was his gift to me - not just a profession, but a way to see the world - and it was through this that we found a quiet and deep connection. Continuing this project allowed me to stay close to him and keep a part of him in me."

Sundsbø added that it is a great honor for him to be invited to participate in the creation of the Pirelli calendar again. "I'm glad to be working with Avani Rai, paying tribute to her father's legacy," he said. "For me, it was a unique opportunity to get to know India. We will both do our best to do justice to this country and honor the memory of Raghu Rai."
