Rolf plans to buy a tire plant

Russian car dealer "Rolf" is in talks with several companies regarding the possibility of buying a tire plant in the country, reports "Kommersant" citing the words of the company's general director Roman Antonov.

About plans to launch its own tire production in the summer of 2024, the owner of the holding Umar Kremlev also spoke, who noted that it would be cheaper to build a new plant than to buy assets.

Antonov did not specify which companies are being negotiated with, and experts note that it is possible that the former Michelin plant is being referred to, which was purchased by the distributor "Power International Tires". Among foreign players in the Russian Federation, Yokohama and Pirelli continue to operate, while the plants of Continental and Bridgestone are now part of the "Cordiant" cluster.
