New Pirelli scooter tire presented

Pirelli has introduced new tires, the Pirelli Angel Scooter II, for the Asian market, designed for scooters and created using technologies initially developed for premium sport-touring motorcycle tires. The company notes that these tires combine high traction on dry and wet surfaces with improved energy efficiency, making them an optimal choice for electric vehicles.

Pirelli Angel Scooter II

In creating this new tire, Pirelli used the Cap & Base technology for the first time in this segment. This means the tread has a two-component structure, with the lower layer made from a rubber compound with low hysteresis, reducing energy loss during deformation and rolling resistance, thereby increasing the range of electric scooters. At the same time, the upper layer, made from a compound with a high silica content, increases traction on wet surfaces. A special oil-plasticizer is also used, providing the rubber compound with the necessary elasticity in cool weather and helping the tires to operate stably across a wide temperature range.

The tread pattern, based on the design of the Pirelli Angel GT II motorcycle tires, is designed for confident traction and reduced braking distance on wet roads. Two longitudinal channels, combined with diagonal grooves, are responsible for quickly evacuating water from the contact area.

Following the example of sport-touring motorcycle tires, the new tire features additional sipes that increase the number of biting edges and improve traction and feedback, especially noticeable at low speeds or on wet surfaces. The sipes also increase the elasticity of the tread, allowing the tires to adapt to micro-unevenness of the road surface and increasing the reliability of traction. Their design makes wear more even and ensures the stability of the tire's characteristics throughout its entire service life.

Among the main grooves, there are also damping depressions that reduce vibrations and shorten braking distances by increasing the contact patch under load.

The design of the sidewalls has also changed, with the appearance of an elongated letter P, which Pirelli has used as part of its logo since 1908, while the inscriptions are made in a rich black color.

Compared to the first-generation tires, the Pirelli Angel Scooter, the new tires have improved economy, acoustic comfort, and even wear, while maintaining the same level of performance on dry and wet surfaces.

Pirelli Angel Scooter II tires are available on the market in sizes with a rim diameter from 10 to 15 inches.
