Omsktechuglerod marked its 80th anniversary
On June 21, a solemn evening was held in Omsk in honor of the 80th anniversary of the local technical carbon production plant, one of the key types of raw materials for the tire industry.
Employees of the plant were congratulated, among others, by the governor of the Omsk region Vitaly Khotsenko, who noted that "such enterprises as Omsktechuglerod serve as a point of growth for domestic industry and glorify Omsk as one of the industrial centers of Russia".
The chairman of the board of directors of Omsktechuglerod Valery Kaplunat awarded the workers with honorary certificates and stated that "we see our development primarily in increasing our presence in the markets. We are confident that tomorrow will be better than today, and our descendants will be proud of us just as we are proud of the generations of our selfless predecessors - laborers".
The Omsk soot plant was launched in 1944, during the war, and some elements of the structures were installed immediately after delivery, while part of the equipment was manufactured on site. At that time, the enterprise could produce up to 10 thousand tons of products per year, and out of 130 employees, only four had a higher education. At the same time, production volumes were increased sixfold over the year.
In 1991, the plant began supplying technical carbon to Japan to the company Bridgestone, and by that time, a production site had already been launched in Volgograd (in 1964), and in 2014, the construction of an enterprise in Mogilev (Belarus) began.
