Nexen introduced an eco-friendly tire

Nexen Tire has announced that it has successfully developed a tire made from 70% eco-friendly materials. Previously, Nexen had only managed to achieve a proportion of 52% "green" raw materials, and the company says it will continue to develop in this direction, which is related to the tightening of environmental regulations in developed markets, including Europe, and by 2045 the manufacturer intends to fully switch to the use of eco-materials.

The new tire is made from 53% renewable biological raw materials and 17% recycled materials. The production of tires used, for example, natural and biosynthetic rubber, silica from rice husks, rim wire and metal cord from recycled steel, etc. The production is carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR).

The tire also has low rolling resistance - 5.11 N/kN, which corresponds to class "A" according to European labeling standards. Thanks to the reduced rolling resistance, tires with an "A" rating reduce energy consumption, save fuel and help reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Nexen adds that it continues to develop eco-friendly technologies to minimize its impact on the environment, including through the use of "green" raw materials. The company has already assessed the suitability of about 90 types of eco-materials for use, and by 2025 their number is planned to be increased to 102. The company also applies artificial intelligence and virtual reality technologies in the development of products, which increases the efficiency of the research department and at the same time reduces CO2 emissions. In addition, Nexen is the first in the Korean automotive industry to use a driving simulator and has mastered 3D printing of molds, which ensures resource and energy savings.

"By switching to eco-friendly raw materials by 2045, we will contribute to the development of 'green' mobility of the future through new developments that reduce carbon dioxide emissions and increase resource consumption efficiency," the company emphasized.
