Can Chinese people make "sticky rice cakes"?

Just like the automotive industry, the Chinese tire industry is progressing at an incredibly rapid pace. How far can we trust our safety to Chinese tires? It's clear that Chinese tires won't become equal to premium brands overnight, which is why they often cost four times less. But how far behind are they, and is it safer to buy new Chinese-made tires or drive on premium tires until the wear indicator? Today, we'll take a closer look at this question.

A good practice recently has been to compare tires not only when new but also when worn. The Swedish publication Vi Bilägare tested several tire models and compared them to premium tires with a live tread, which is important. The tread depth of the worn tires was 6 mm. At this remaining tread depth, no one would think of changing tires. It's also interesting that, along with premium tires, the Swedes tested the Chinese tire Triangle SnowLink PL01. As we understood from the previous test, even a large number of studs can't be the solution. Hence, there's even greater interest in comparing non-studded tires.
 

As can be seen from the test results, the Chinese model loses to the premium Pirelli Ice Zero Asimmetrico tire on ice and snow. However, the gap does not exceed 5%. Braking on dry and wet asphalt, the new premium tire, on the contrary, loses to the Chinese model. In comparison with a premium tire with wear, the situation is even more interesting, with the gap on ice and snow now in favor of the Chinese Triangle SnowLink PL01. It's worth noting that the remaining tread depth of the new worn tire is 6 mm, which is a very working condition. In braking on dry and wet asphalt, the worn tire now shows the best result. This is a vivid illustration of what we wrote about, how some characteristics become even better as they wear out.

The conclusion can be drawn as follows: Chinese tires have room to grow, but they already show a decent level of safety. Especially obvious is the advantage of new Chinese tires over even premium brands with just 2-3 mm of wear.
