Best Safe Production

24 april 2012
The American association of RТИ manufacturers (RMA) has recently summed up the results and noted some companies that have been observed to have the most exemplary adherence to hygiene and safety standards. The program, which annually tracks the production level of enterprises focused on the production of automobile tires, is called the Safety and Health Improvement Program (SHIP) - a program to stimulate the level of safety in the tire industry. It originated back in 1981. Awards are presented to winners in two categories - Excellence and Improvement. Excellence is awarded to firms that, according to statistics provided by factories to RMA, have a 75% lower number of injuries resulting in temporary disability compared to the average at enterprises. Improvement is received by companies that have improved their performance compared to the previous year, and also have 10% fewer production injuries than the average value. This year, the best in the Excellence category were: 1. Bridgestone (plant in Aiken, South Carolina). 2. Michelin (plants in Spartanburg and Starr, South Carolina). 3. Pirelli (plant in Rome, Georgia). In the Improvement category, the deserved awards were received by: 1. Cooper (plants in Tupelo and Clarksdale, Mississippi). 2. Michelin (plants in Greenville and Sandy Springs, South Carolina; Dothan, Alabama; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Covington, Georgia). 3. Goodyear (plants in Topeka, Kansas; Lawton, Oklahoma; Social Circle, Georgia). As can be seen, the enterprises of Michelin received the greatest recognition. The chairman and president of the company in North America, Pitt Selleck, stated that these awards are of great importance to his company, since one of the areas of the company's work is to create a safe labor environment at all its plants. A total of 41 enterprises participated in this competition - exactly how many sent their data to RMA.
