Kumho introduced three new UHP tires
Kumho Tire has introduced three new Ultra-High Performance (UHP) tires at the 2024 SEMA show in Las Vegas: the all-season Ecsta Sport A/S PA71, as well as the summer Ecsta Sport PS72 and Sport S PS72.
All of the new tires were developed using AI, while the company's long-standing partnership with automakers allowed for rapid testing, and Kumho claims that the tires "push the boundaries of innovation" and combine excellent traction, including on wet surfaces, with high durability.
According to Shawn Denlein, President of Sales and Marketing for Kumho's American division, the new tires are "our most high-tech models, showcasing what UHP tires can and should be". "We continue to offer superior tires with exceptional warranty conditions at competitive prices, which is what customers have come to expect from Kumho Tire", he added.
The Kumho Ecsta Sport All-Season PA71 is made from a new-generation rubber compound designed to improve traction in various conditions, both in the rain and in sunny weather, with a warranty mileage of 80,000 km. Additionally, the tread pattern with wide, stiff blocks in the outer zone helps the tires handle the increased loads of high-performance vehicles and improves cornering stability, while the transverse grooves drain water from the contact patch, and the additional zigzag grooves in the inner section increase snow traction. Furthermore, the rounded block edges reduce noise and improve impact absorption, and the proprietary wall groove design with special protrusions (K-Noise Defender technology) also enhances acoustic comfort.
"The Ecsta Sport All-Season PA71 has a combination of features that is very rare," Denlein said. "The tire offers excellent traction, performs well on wet roads, and comes with a very large warranty mileage. Thus, it expands the boundaries of what is possible for all-season UHP tires".
In turn, the summer tires Ecsta Sport PS72 and Ecsta Sport S PS72 are designed primarily to maximize traction on dry asphalt, including at high speeds, but the compound and tread pattern have also been optimized to improve performance in the rain, with a warranty mileage of 48,000 km.
"The Ecsta Sport PS72 and Ecsta Sport S PS72 tires will allow us to stand out from the competition in the UHP segment," Denlein said. "The magic lies in the details, and we have worked on all aspects of the tires to make them as effective and durable as possible".
The Ecsta Sport All-Season PA71 tire is available in 56 sizes with diameters from 16 to 21 inches on the American market, while the Ecsta Sport PS72 is available in 56 sizes with diameters from 17 to 21 inches, and the Ecsta Sport S PS72 is available in 52 sizes for wheels with diameters from 18 to 22 inches.
