«Cordiant» introduces piece-by-piece weight control of tires
At the Omsk production facility«Cordiant»a part-by-part weight control system for tires was introduced at the stage between assembly and vulcanization, which allows "timely detection of deviations from the standard and prevents non-conformities in subsequent production stages," the company's press service reported.
Previously, tire weight was measured only once, but now tires are weighed after adding each element that significantly affects weight, according to "Kordiant." The obtained data is then automatically transferred to a special program that visualizes the weighing process dynamics against set standards, allowing immediate detection of any deviation from the norm.
«A key advantage of the new system is automated data collection and process control using statistical methods,» the company says. «Previously, workers manually recorded tyre weight in documents, and inspectors transferred this data into the software. Now, all sensor readings are transmitted in real time to specialized software. The software generates clear graphs showing the weighing dynamics relative to standard values.»
The new system also completely eliminates manual operations, meaning assemblers no longer need to record tyre weight in documents, and quality controllers no longer have to manually enter data into the software. Now, all information is collected within a single program, which "enables dynamic process analysis, allowing assessment of their stability, and also eliminates the likelihood of random inaccuracies related to human factors."
«We are the market leader in passenger car tire production, with a 30% market share in the first half of 2026. Our top priority is consistently high product quality, which we maintain by continuously improving our manufacturing processes. In particular, we are actively enhancing our quality control systems across our production facilities,» noted Dmitry Gorbachev, CEO of Cordiant. «For example, our automated, component-level tire weighing system enables real-time visualization of weight measurements after semi-finished components are added. This way, we ensure comprehensive control throughout the entire production cycle, eliminating blind spots and applying a proactive approach focused on preventing deviations.»
The company will continue implementing the new system at its Omsk facility next year, and emphasizes that "automating quality control during the assembly stage increases not only the reliability of the final product, but also the overall production efficiency. It is important that such solutions are becoming an industry standard."
