"Cordiant" continues modernization of Yaroslavl tire plant
«Cordiant» is one of the leaders of the Russian market of all-steel truck tires, and their production is established at the Yaroslavl Tire Plant. Serial production of all-steel tires with a capacity of 650 thousand units per year at YTP was launched in 2013, and at that time it was one of the largest investment projects in the domestic tire industry. Currently, the plant is undergoing modernization, affecting the production of both all-steel tires and passenger tires, which are produced under the Cordiant brand, and the other day the company summed up the results of the second stage of this project.
One of the significant events was the launch of a new rubber mixing line, designed taking into account the requirements of YTP and the Intair Research and Development Center, and installed to increase the production of rubber silanized compounds for all-steel tires. The company notes that "before the full launch of the line, all necessary tests were carried out, which confirmed the declared characteristics and performance of the equipment in real production conditions".
The plant has also installed an automatic quality control line from one of the leading suppliers of equipment for the tire industry. The new equipment is designed for automated determination of such important tire characteristics as mass, force non-uniformity, radial and lateral runout, as well as sidewall waviness. There is a possibility of checking tires with a diameter of 13-20 inches, which covers a large part of the passenger tire segment.
"The installation of additional control allows for the prompt identification of any deviations in production processes and their effective elimination, increases the accuracy of diagnosis and timely detection of defects, and minimizes the risk of releasing defective products, which collectively has a positive effect on the overall level of product quality", Cordiant reports.
Automation has also affected the production of all-steel tires, and in one of the workshops, a monorail robot-transporter is being gradually mastered, which is used to transport unvulcanized tires from storage to vulcanization presses.
Another element of modernization is the update of assembly equipment, and in 2025-2026, the Yaroslavl Tire Plant will continue to replace morally obsolete machines for assembling passenger tires. The company notes that "modern equipment will allow improving the technical characteristics of tires, increasing the overall productivity of the enterprise, and reducing the likelihood of defects".
"As one of the largest tire manufacturers in the country, we clearly understand the needs of the market and strive to meet them, — said Vadim Volodin, General Director of Cordiant JSC. – First of all, this concerns the range and quality of products. We are already fixing a positive effect from the implemented measures — the percentage of defective products at the plant in 2025 decreased by more than 10% from the established norm".
