"Cordiant" is modernizing the Intair R&D Center

"Cordiant" has launched a project to modernize the infrastructure of the Scientific and Technical Center "Intair", which will cover all branches of the STC at the company's plants in Yaroslavl, Omsk, Kaluga and Ulyanovsk (the last two sites previously belonged to Continental and Bridgestone, respectively).

"The modernization of the laboratory infrastructure of the STC 'Intair' is one of the key priorities within the framework of strengthening the scientific and technical potential of the holding," said Dmitry Gorbachev, General Director of the "Cordiant" holding. "We have extensive production facilities and occupy the first place in the production of passenger car tires with a share of 27%. In addition, we possess unique expertise in Russian production and the advanced experience of leading international companies Bridgestone and Continental. The future is born in laboratories, and we are ready for it."

As part of the modernization, new equipment will be installed for quality control of raw materials, as well as for the rapid development and testing of rubber compounds. "The creation of a new rubber compound for tires is a comprehensive process that requires highly qualified scientific and technical personnel, modern laboratory equipment, and research methods," the company notes. "This allows us to predict the future operational characteristics of the tire, such as wear resistance, fuel efficiency, and traction with the road surface under different operating conditions, at the initial stage of development."

The laboratories will be equipped with high-tech equipment such as ozone chambers, chromatographs for evaluating the stability of rubbers and waxes, etc., and there are also plans for automation of raw material control.

Gislaved One, which will be produced at the Kaluga and Ulyanovsk plants, and in 'Cordiant' they say that 'improving approaches in the field of developing innovative products using advanced equipment, high-quality materials, and multi-stage quality control is an important step in the development of the premium assortment of the Gislaved brand'."

The company adds that production in Kaluga and Ulyanovsk is "organized in the closest possible link with the STC units", and the modernization will allow for the rapid creation and launch of new models. In addition, it is reported that the experience of the former owners of the plants, especially Continental, is being taken into account, as well as "the best Russian practices".
