What tires are effective at low temperatures?

Yes, studded tires are indeed the best solution for difficult winter conditions, but the situation becomes truly interesting when the winter is so extreme that studded tires give up their primacy.

It's all about the density of the ice. Like snow, ice has many types that depend on weather conditions. The main factor, of course, is air temperature. When the temperature drops below -30°C, the ice becomes particularly dense, and the anti-skid studs can no longer pierce it. In such a situation, non-studded tires become more effective due to the larger amount of rubber in the contact patch, and studded tires begin to lose their grip. The gap is small, but it exists. But this, of course, only applies to ice. In all other respects, studded tires surpass non-studded tires in extreme winter conditions. On snow, they handle passability better due to the more developed negative profile of the tire (the combination of all channels and lamellae of the tread pattern).

This example once again proves that a tire should be selected for the specific conditions in which it will be used. In the case of correct selection, you will not be disappointed with the chosen tires, and the operation of the vehicle will be safe even in extreme conditions.
