Hankook became a partner of the FIA
Hankook Tire has become a global partner of the International Automobile Federation (FIA). The partnership will be implemented within the FIA's Global Partnership Program, "uniting various organizations around the world that consider innovation, sustainability, and safety to be key factors in shaping the future of mobility and motorsport," and the official signing ceremony of the partnership agreement took place on January 23 at the FIA's London office, attended by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem and Hankook Tire Europe's President and COO, Jongho Park.
Under the terms of the agreement, Hankook, among other things, will take on the role of official partner of the FIA Awards, which are awarded annually in December, and will also support the FIA Sustainable Innovation Series events, held in collaboration with racing series such as Formula E, Formula 1, WEC, and WRC, with the aim of discussing how innovations from motorsport can impact the mobility sector as a whole.
"Sustainability and technological innovation are at the core of the FIA's mission," noted Ben Sulayem. "The partnership with Hankook reflects the development of our global partnership program, and our collaboration with them will enable us to continue our work to enhance safety in motorsport and the entire automotive industry."
Hankook says that its collaboration with the FIA is based on the understanding that the development of new solutions in motorsport is key to driving positive change in the automotive industry, and the company, among other things, is developing new product development processes using artificial intelligence, as well as making strategic investments in the electromobility segment - for example, in the iON tire line, created specifically for electric vehicles - and expanding the use of renewable and recycled materials.
"The FIA and Hankook share the conviction that innovation can only be effective in the long term if it combines safety, transparency, and responsibility," said Park. "As a global partner of the FIA, we intend to leverage our expertise in tire development to shape the future of mobility - both in motorsport and beyond."
The company adds that, "as an integral part of modern mobility, tires make a significant contribution to improving its safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability, especially in the context of the transition to new types of transport." "Given this, Hankook takes a comprehensive approach and develops solutions that meet the highest standards, both for traditional and new vehicles," the company says, emphasizing that participation in motorsport, including Formula E and WRC, is a central element of the manufacturer's strategy in the development of new materials and technologies.
