Goodyear announced that it will close its plant in Fayetteville (North Carolina, USA), launched in 1969 and capable of producing around 40,000 passenger and light truck tires per day. 1,700 people will lose their jobs.

"As the only remaining American tire company,  Goodyear is committed to maintaining production in the country in a rapidly changing market," said  Goodyear, adding that "despite extensive efforts to improve the competitiveness of the Fayetteville plant, the company is negotiating with the union about closing the facility in 2027".

"This difficult decision is necessary for  Goodyear to compete in today's market and to ensure the viability of the business in the long term," the company emphasized.
