Goodyear Repurposes Virginia Plant

Goodyear announced that as part of the Goodyear Forward restructuring plan aimed at increasing the company's profitability, it will relocate most of its truck tire production from the Danville, Virginia, USA plant, and the facility will focus on producing rubber compounds and aviation tires. 

“Our goal is to enhance the competitiveness of the Danville plant and retain as many jobs as possible,” the company emphasized. 

The plant, which opened in 1966, employs approximately 2,000 people and is the only Goodyear plant in North America that produces aviation tires. Goodyear does not specify where truck tire production will be relocated, and in the US, tires in this category are also produced at the company's plant in Topeka, Kansas. 

According to Tire Business, the production capacities of the plants in Virginia and Kansas are 10,000 and 7,000 truck tires per day, respectively.
