Giti introduces four new products
Singaporean Giti has introduced four new tires to the market, with their official premiere taking place at The Tire Cologne (TTC) exhibition in early June. One of the key innovations is the new all-season tire GT Radial ClimateActive, which joins the Active lineup, previously including models such as SportActive 2, SportActive 2 SUV, and SportActive 2 EV.
"The GT Radial brand is focused on a sporty, young, and active audience, so Active is the perfect name," notes Fabio Pecchi-Boriani, Senior Product Manager at Giti's European office.
The manufacturer claims that the production of ClimateActive utilizes a new rubber compound, allowing the tires to maintain softness at low temperatures while also providing reliable traction in summer conditions. The optimized profile and tread pattern, combined with a lightweight construction, have reduced rolling resistance, and abrasion resistance has been increased by 10%. Additionally, the V-shaped tread pattern, which reduces the risk of aquaplaning, has been refined to improve ride comfort and reduce noise, and the sidewalls feature the EV Ready marking, indicating that the tires have been adapted for use on electric vehicles. Currently, two sizes are available: 205/55 R16 and 225/50 R17, and according to the European classification, the tire has received an "A" rating for wet grip and external noise, and a "C" rating for energy efficiency.
In the passenger all-season tire segment, Giti has introduced two new products, with the second one, featuring a similar but distinct tread pattern, being called Giti GitiAllSeason AS2. According to Pecchi-Boriani, although the two tires have a lot in common, Giti is more focused on asphalt use, as evidenced by the reduced number of lamellas compared to ClimateActive.
Giti's representative adds that new rubber compound technologies have enabled the creation of a "more summer-like" tire with a reduced number of lamellas, which still maintains traction in winter conditions. Additionally, wear resistance has been increased by 10%, which is important from an environmental protection perspective, and the tire has received an "A" rating for wet grip, just like ClimateActive.
GitiAllSeason AS2 will be available for sale in September, with sizes 17 and 18 inches to be available by the end of the year, and the target market coverage will be expanded to 90-95% by 2025. The EV Ready marking will be present on all sizes.
At the TTC, a new all-season tire GT Radial Maxmiler AllSeason 2 for light commercial vehicles was also presented, featuring a reinforced block structure and sidewall protection, which increases its durability, while the increased tread width also contributes to extending the tire's life.
Pecchi-Boriani notes that the creation of the new tire involved changing the rubber compound and improving some aspects, allowing the tire to be adapted for use on electric vehicles. "The market is currently seeing more and more electric vehicles being used for last-mile delivery," he said. "So, the new tire is designed to be suitable for both traditional and electric commercial vehicles, including in terms of size range: the tire is available in sizes with a speed index of up to H (up to 210 km/h) and a diameter of up to 17 inches. We are following the development of this segment, and vehicles are becoming increasingly heavy and fast, and are also being equipped with larger tires."
GT Radial Maxmiler AllSeason 2 is available in 17 sizes, from 195/70 R15C to 225/55 R17C. According to the European labeling system, the tire has received a "C/D" rating for fuel efficiency, an "A" rating for wet grip, and a "B" rating for noise level. Like the two new passenger tires from Giti, the sidewalls feature the 3PMSF marking, indicating that the tire has met the certification requirements for snow performance.
The next innovation is the winter commercial tire GT Radial MaxMiler WT3, which, according to Pecchi-Boriani, "is conceptually similar to the new all-season tire but differs in its zigzag grooves and increased tread depth, as well as its enhanced focus on winter use." "We have retained all the advantages of the previous model (MaxMiler WT2), but have improved the characteristics on wet and dry asphalt, and have also reduced rolling resistance, so the EV Ready marking is also present," he added. "We have now presented new all-season and winter models, and new summer tires will appear soon."
The tread pattern of the GT Radial MaxMiler WT3 is designed to increase traction on snow and improve resistance to aquaplaning, and attention has also been paid to increasing wear resistance, reducing noise, and improving ride comfort. Additionally, the special rubber compound, as claimed by the manufacturer, reduces braking distances on dry and wet roads, improves snow performance, and extends the tire's life. The lineup includes 36 sizes, from 195/70 R15C to 225/55 R17C.
