Natural air loss in a tire

We have already written about how tires can lose pressure due to sudden cooling, impacts, changes in altitude, but we haven't written about a factor such as natural air loss.

Of course, this doesn't apply to everyone. Rather, car owners who have two sets of wheels assembled are more likely to encounter this problem. At the same time, when changing wheels, neither balancing nor pumping air into the tires occurs.

It's all about the diffusion of molecules through the layers of the tire. The tire can hold air for a long time, but due to the natural permeability of the materials, the tire layers at the thinnest point - the sidewall of the tire - gradually let air through. Some tire rubber compounds are more permeable than others. This means that air usually escapes more easily. So, regular pressure checks should be done, even if there are no obvious reasons for it.

If you don't check the pressure in your tires for a long time, it will lead to a change in handling and a decrease in your car's fuel efficiency, and in the worst case - to a dangerous situation on the road.

Be careful and regularly check the pressure in your tires.
