Eco tires Continental approved for Volkswagen ID.7
Tires Continental EcoContact 7 S, which the company calls the most environmentally friendly product in its history, have been approved for factory equipment of the electric liftback Volkswagen ID.7. The tires are supplied in sizes with a diameter of 21 inches, and Continental equips the ID.7 worldwide.
The carcass, hermetic layer, and sidewalls of the EcoContact 7 S are made from new materials that reduce rolling resistance and increase energy efficiency (Smart Energy Casing technology), and the sidewalls also have an optimized design that improves their aerodynamic characteristics. To achieve this, a number of solutions were used, and the sidewalls, for example, have depressions, like golf balls, which reduce air turbulence behind the tire and reduce energy consumption.

The tires also feature a Silent Pattern tread that reduces noise levels. According to the manufacturer, the blocks are arranged in such a way that they reduce noise in the frequencies that usually occur at 50 km/h, not only making the ride more comfortable for the driver and passengers but also reducing noise pollution, i.e., increasing comfort for pedestrians and residents of nearby houses. The Continental range also includes the EcoContact 7 model, which differs from the S-version in improved traction and handling on wet roads.
"Optimized energy efficiency, low rolling noise, and high durability make the EcoContact 7 S the ideal choice for electric vehicles," the company notes. "For this reason, the sidewalls also feature the EV-Compatible symbol, indicating that the tires are recommended for use on electric cars."
The following tire sizes have been homologated by Volkswagen: 235/40 R21 and 265/35 R21, which can automatically seal punctures thanks to the sealant layer in the construction (ContiSeal technology).
