Doublestar has opened a plant in Cambodia

Doublestar has officially launched the first phase of its new factory in Cambodia's Kratie province, becoming another Chinese tire company to localize production in the country, joining Sailun and General Science.

Construction of the new facility began on May 15, 2023, with a capacity of 7 million passenger tires and 1.5 million truck tires. The total investment was around $200 million, and the tires will be primarily supplied to the US and European markets. Additionally, the company plans to start building the second phase of the factory in the near future.

Doublestar is controlled by the Chinese government, and in 2023, the company's revenue was 26.6 billion yuan ($3.75 billion), an 18% increase from the previous year. In June 2024, Doublestar became the first Chinese tire brand to be worth over 100 billion yuan ($14.1 billion), and since 2018, the company has owned the Korean Kumho. Doublestar's partners include major automakers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, General Motors, Nissan, Hyundai, FAW, Dongfeng, SAIC, BAIC, and more.

According to Doublestar, the launch of the new factory will accelerate the company's expansion into the international market and help it become a world-class tire manufacturer with broad development prospects.
