For Ford Capri and Explorer homologated tires Continental

The electric crossovers Ford Capri and Explorer are equipped with Continental tires exclusively on the assembly line. For both models, the American automaker has approved summer tires Continental EcoContact 6 Q with diameters of 19, 20, and 21 inches, as well as 19-inch all-weather Continental AllSeasonContact, according to the tire company's press service.

The EcoContact 6 Q tires are made from a specially created rubber compound that reduces rolling resistance and energy consumption, making them, as the tire company says, particularly well-suited for electric vehicles. The developers have also optimized the tread pattern to reduce noise, and thanks to the modified shape of the blocks, lamellas, and grooves, the tire life has been increased, and the braking performance and handling have been improved. In addition, the tires, according to the manufacturer, provide reliable traction on dry and wet roads, as well as optimal stability when cornering, including at high speeds.

For the Capri and Explorer, the tires are supplied in six sizes, from 235/55 R19 to 255/40 R21.

In turn, the all-season AllSeasonContact tires, which have the highest "A" rating for economy according to the European classification and the XL marking, indicating increased load capacity, can also be considered a good choice for electric vehicle owners. The rolling resistance is reduced due to an "exceptionally energy-efficient design" and a new compound, while the optimized profile and increased stiffness of the tread improve resistance to aquaplaning, and the silica in the rubber compound reduces braking distances in various weather conditions.

Tires with sizes 235/55 R19 and 255/50 R19 have passed homologation.

"Low rolling resistance, reduced noise, and high durability are priorities during the development of Continental tires," the company notes, adding that "the increased load index confirms that the tires can withstand the increased weight of battery-equipped electric cars."

Currently, Continental supplies tires for 10 of the world's largest manufacturers of fully electric vehicles.
