Continental has released a new all-weather tire

The North American market has introduced a new tire, Continental SecureContact AW, designed for year-round use and intended for owners of both passenger cars and crossovers and SUVs.

The novelty has an asymmetric tread pattern, created to improve handling in various weather conditions, and received the 3PMSF (three-peak mountain snowflake) marking, which confirms that the tires can guarantee a high level of traction on snowy roads. Additionally, the EcoPlus technology was used, meaning the rubber compound was optimized to reduce rolling resistance, increase grip on wet pavement, and increase durability, and the EV marking indicates that the Continental SecureContact AW was designed for use on both gasoline-powered vehicles and electric cars.

The tires are also equipped with two types of wear indicators, which allow monitoring of both the remaining tread depth and the correctness of wheel installation, which affects even wear.

Before releasing the novelty to the market, the manufacturer compared it with competitors in internal tests. The Michelin CrossClimate 2 and Bridgestone WeatherPeak tires in size 225/55R17 were chosen for the tests, as well as the Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady 2 and Pirelli WeatherActive in size 225/65 R17, and it was confirmed that the SecureContact AW surpasses its competitors in braking performance and handling on wet surfaces.

The tires have been released to the market in 50 sizes, from 195/65 R15 to 265/50 R20. The warranty mileage for sizes with H/V and W speed indices is 100,000 and 90,000 km, respectively (treadwear index - 700 and 640).
