The Firestone brand celebrates its 125th anniversary

Bridgestone has announced that it will celebrate the 125th anniversary of its legendary Firestone brand throughout the coming year, with various events and the release of new tires for both passenger and commercial vehicles.

Harvey Firestone

Firestone Tire and Rubber Company was founded on August 3, 1900, in Akron, Ohio, and over the next four decades, its founder Harvey Firestone made significant contributions to the development of the American automotive and other industries. For example, in 1919, the Ship by Truck initiative, aimed at popularizing truck transportation, laid the foundation for the creation of an improved road network that Americans still use today, and in 1932, the Put the Farm on Rubber campaign revolutionized agriculture, proving the effectiveness of rubber pneumatic tires for tractors.

When Firestone passed away in 1938, his brand was extremely popular across the United States, and in the same year, Firestone air springs were introduced, making car rides more comfortable and increasing the reliability of cargo transportation. This business still thrives today under the name Airide. In 2011, the first Indianapolis 500 race was held, in which the victory was won on Firestone tires. Currently, Firestone has 76 wins in the famous competitions and has been collaborating with their organizers for 25 consecutive seasons.

In 1988, Firestone was acquired by the Japanese Bridgestone, in 1995 it returned to Indianapolis 500, and the Destination line was also launched, which is still present on the market today.

In honor of Firestone's anniversary, expeditions to remote areas of Wyoming's Bighorn National Forest, one of the least populous states in the United States, will be organized, among other things. It was through such sparsely populated terrain that Harvey Firestone and his friends Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, and John Burroughs (Burroughs was a well-known nature writer, the other two need no introduction, and together they called themselves the "four vagabonds") - each year for nearly a decade - organized trips at the beginning of the last century.

Firestone was a pioneer whose life, legacy, and commitment to customer interests remain an integral part of our DNA to this day," said Scott Damon, President of Bridgestone Americas. "We constantly strive to master innovations and improve customers' lives through our products, services, and solutions, as well as adapt to their changing needs."
