ASHK will develop tires for Airbus and Boeing

During the recent exhibition "Tires, RTI and Rubbers — 2026" it was announced that as part of the strategic expansion of the assortment, the Altai Tire Plant (ATP) plans to start developing tires for foreign aircraft operated in Russia, and among the priorities are tires for Airbus A320/321 and Boeing 737.

Now the plant is working on import substitution of tires for domestic aircraft, and certificates of conformity of the component product (CCCP) have already been received for tires for the main and nose landing gear of the MS-21, as well as for the main landing gear of the Sukhoi Superjet 100. An initiative is also being developed to create a tire for the front landing gear of the SSJ-100, and the completion of research and development work and the receipt of the CCCP are planned for the end of 2027.

The implementation of projects for the creation of tires for Airbus and Boeing will be carried out within the framework of the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 209, which implies cooperation with higher educational institutions, and the ATP, together with the Altai State Technical University (ASTU), intends to create a Center for Engineering Technologies, which will involve young specialists and students of profile areas, which should ensure "the continuity of engineering personnel and strengthen the research and development base of the plant".

As noted by the representatives of the ATP during the panel discussion with the participation of players in the tire market, "the development of each new tire requires a full cycle of events: from designing scientific and design documentation and purchasing specialized equipment to conducting a full range of preliminary and qualification tests".

Earlier, the ATP said that the plant's capacity would be enough to provide tires for the entire future fleet of MS-21 — 270 aircraft by 2030, and the founder of the flight safety and certification service RunAvia.ru, Andrey Patrakov, in an interview with Kommersant, noted that "the target volume of 270 sets of tires for the MS-21 by 2030 may be excessive, since this volume of aircraft production will not be fulfilled due to the unfinished certification of other important components. In these conditions, a rational solution would be to direct at least part of the investments to the development and certification of domestic analogues of tires for foreign aircraft Airbus A320 and Boeing B737".

According to the expert, in contrast to the MS-21, there is already a demand for tires for foreign aircraft, and this can make the project of the Altai plant potentially profitable and successful.
