Description Yokohama W.Drive V905
The winter tire Yokohama W.Drive V905, like its predecessor, the 902B model, is studded, which does not prevent it from demonstrating reliable traction on any winter roads. However, the novelty differs in much better technical characteristics, which is due to the use of the latest technological developments and materials in its design.
Improved rubber compound
The rubber compound used in the production of the tread is significantly different from the compound used in the previous model. The most significant change is the increase in the silica content. In addition, new-generation polymers have appeared in the composition, which, in addition to the uniformity of the rubber compound, have given it increased strength on rupture. As a result, the tire tread has become much better at gripping the road surface at very low temperatures. Additionally, its resistance to high-temperature effects has increased, which has had a positive impact on the durability of the tire.
Increased number of lamellas
Compared to its predecessor, this tire has an increased number of traction edges. The overwhelming majority of them are formed by lamellas, which are located at an even smaller distance than before. This was achieved by changing the shape of the lamella walls to a pyramidal one. When the lamella comes into contact with the road, it limits the mobility of the blocks, which increases its stiffness.
High-performance drainage system
Another difference from the previous model is the design of the drainage system. Most of the grooves have become longer and more voluminous. At the same time, almost all of them are located at a significant angle and are directed against the movement. All this allows the tread to very effectively combat both aquaplaning and slushplaning.
Key features of Yokohama W.Drive V905
- improved rubber compound, elastic in severe frost and resistant to high-temperature effects during thaws;
- increased number of 3D lamellas with pyramidal-shaped walls improve traction on ice;
- high-performance drainage system with extended grooves of increased volume allows the tread to effectively combat aquaplaning and slushplaning;
- long service life due to resistance to uneven and abrasive wear.
