Description Yokohama RB42
The Yokohama RB42 truck tire was specifically designed for use on any wheel axles of quarry dump trucks, the operation of which is mainly associated with movement on mud, sand, gravel, and stones. This model is produced in the following sizes - 18.00R33, 24.00R35, and 27.00R49.
This tire is equipped with a symmetrical non-directional tread pattern, which is characterized by the presence of a large number of tread blocks. In the center of the tread, there is a row of massive blocks, the shape of which contains more angles and sharp edges. A characteristic feature is the arrangement of these blocks at an angle relative to the direction of movement. This solution significantly improved the traction and adhesion characteristics. Additionally, the massive size of the central tread blocks made it possible to increase the contact patch area, which reduced the pressure on the ground.
The shoulder areas of the tread are essentially two additional rows of blocks, also having a polygonal shape. Thanks to the perpendicular arrangement relative to the direction of movement, the blocks of the shoulder areas of the tread significantly improved the passability of the Yokohama RB42 tire on loose and rocky soils.
Due to the large distance between the tread blocks, it was possible to ensure a minimal probability of clogging the tread with parts of the road surface, which significantly improved the passability characteristics.
When developing this model, much attention was paid to ensuring durability, since the tire is designed for use on quarry dump trucks. The basis of the design is a multi-layer steel frame, which gave the tire exceptional resistance to various aggressive influences, including prolonged movement with a heavy load. To provide elasticity, the tire is equipped with a nylon cord and a special elastic layer.
Main features of Yokohama RB42
- A symmetrical non-directional tread pattern with a multitude of massive blocks provides excellent traction and adhesion characteristics in mud, sand, gravel, and on stones, regardless of the direction of movement;
- Massive blocks in the center of the tread allow for a more even distribution of pressure over the contact patch, providing reliable traction in all directions due to the multitude of edges and angles;
- The multi-layer structure of the frame allows the tire to withstand even the most severe operating conditions for a long time;
- The improved rubber compound gave the tire exceptional resistance to punctures and cuts.
