The Toyo Proxes Sport 2 summer tire, like its previous generation model, is designed for the most dynamic versions of passenger cars. However, with the application of more modern technologies and materials, it has been possible to improve almost all running properties while maintaining the "signature" level of comfort.
A significant part of the innovations fell on the design of the tread pattern. In its shoulder areas, wider and longer grooves appeared, which increased resistance to aquaplaning in turns and ensured more intense deceleration on wet surfaces. An additional longitudinal groove on the outside of the tread further enhances these properties. Among other notable changes, it is worth noting the appearance of triangular notches on the inner shoulder area of the sidewall. They increase directional stability and braking efficiency.
Another important difference from the previous model is the profile of the tread. It further increases the size of the contact patch, contributing to a more even distribution of load on the road surface. This enhances traction, making the handling process easier during maneuvers. The same effect on handling is provided by the two polymer layers of the breaker, located directly on the tread. The rigid "substrate" limits the mobility of its pattern elements.
When manufacturing the tread, two compounds are used, dividing it into two equal parts. The outer part is made of a highly elastic rubber mixture, which increases traction when cornering, allowing it to be done at a noticeably higher speed. The inner side of the tread is made of a rigid compound with increased strength and resistance to tearing. This increases stability at high speeds during straight-line movement, prevents rapid wear of the tread, reduces its heating, and reduces rolling resistance.
