Description Toyo Proxes R8R
The Proxes R8R summer tire is noticeably different from other models in its lineup. It is more suitable for use on racing tracks than on regular roads. It differs from its "civilian" counterparts in its uncompromising traction and handling characteristics, which are demonstrated when a certain level of heat is reached.
Asymmetric Tread
The tire features an asymmetric directional tread. It is distinguished not only by its aggressive design but also by the presence of several functional areas. One of them is the outer side of the tread, which occupies more than half of its area. This is a single wide shoulder zone, the solid construction of which provides the tire with excellent traction during lateral accelerations and exceptionally fast and accurate transmission to the steering column.
Aquaplaning Resistance
The tread also contains drainage grooves. They are fewer in number compared to the tire's "civilian" counterparts. However, each of these tread elements has a significant volume, is located at an angle, and is directed against the direction of travel. These features allow the drainage grooves to effectively drain the contact patch, instantly diverting almost any amount of moisture from the contact area.
Quick-Heating Compound
The aforementioned ability of the tire to improve its traction and handling properties as the tread heats up is provided by the physical and chemical properties of the rubber compound. A special GG compound is used here, which becomes very soft when the tire temperature rises.
Key Features of Toyo Proxes R8R
- asymmetric tread with several functional areas;
- a wide shoulder zone on the outside provides traction during lateral accelerations and their fast and accurate transmission to the steering column;
- resistance to aquaplaning due to the voluminous and directionally opposed drainage grooves;
- special "racing" GG compound provides fast heating of the tread to working temperature.
