The Powertrac Snowstar winter tire is installed on almost all modern passenger cars. Some tire sizes allow it to be used in crossovers and SUVs. It is distinguished by its excellent efficiency on icy roads, without the use of studs, due to the application of a number of advanced technologies.
The tire's tread has a two-layer structure with a "rigid" base layer and an elastic outer layer. The first reduces rolling resistance and increases stability at high speeds, while the second, being softer, increases traction at low temperatures. In addition, the tread contains several thousand wavy lamellas. Located almost perpendicular to each other and at a minimum distance from each other, these elements significantly enhance longitudinal traction on any slippery surface, including ice. In addition to them, the tread pattern features special lamella-pumps in the shoulder area on the outside. They further dry the contact patch, capturing and retaining water from the icy and wet surface.
