Like the two previous generations of this model, the Pirelli Winter 240 Sottozero III winter tire was developed taking into account the specifics of operation in Central Europe. In practice, this means increased traction properties, primarily on asphalt. Given the climatic conditions in our country, this feature makes this tire the most attractive option in regions located south of Moscow.
Double V-shaped blocks in the center
The V-shaped longitudinal rib located in the center of the tread pattern has a composite structure containing double blocks installed one after the other. This design gives the tire a number of important advantages. First of all, it is increased stability and reliability in handling when driving at high speeds. In turn, the increased number of transversely arranged edges in this part of the tread improves traction on snow.
3D-lamellas in the shoulder areas
In contrast to similar elements located in the center of the tread, the lamellas in its shoulder areas have a three-dimensional structure. We are talking about their walls, which, due to numerous protrusions, limit the longitudinal and transverse mobility of the blocks when in contact with the road, forming numerous traction edges at the same time. Thanks to this, the tire demonstrates both a short braking distance on ice and compacted snow, and stability during maneuvering.
